Fissidens fontanus | Phoenix Moss — Named for its fountain-like fronds that unfurl in layered, feathered sprays, giving the appearance of an aquatic plume.
How to grow:
Thrives fully submerged in aquariums or paludariums with gentle water flow. Anchor to rocks or driftwood; avoid burying rhizoids. Trim to maintain shape and prevent shading.

Growing requirements:

  • Water: Soft, clean, slightly acidic to neutral; prefers rain, RO, or dechlorinated water

  • Soil / substrate: Not required; attaches to hardscape

  • Humidity: Fully aquatic or ≥90% in emersed culture

  • Sunlight: Low to medium light (2,000–5,000 lux); 8–12W aquarium light

  • Temperature: 18–26 °C

Rosette-like fronds arranged in a flat, double-sided pattern; rhizoids attach to surfaces; non-vascular
